The Boy In The Striped Pajamas

In The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, John Brown expresses the feelings of a nine year old boy, Bruno, who's Father has a job which he knows nothing about and because of the job, his family had to move to a place Bruno knows absolutely nothing about. When Bruno starts comparing the new three story house and his old five story house he talks so bad about his new home. It reminded me in Esperanza Rising, Esperanza is comparing her shack like home and complains about being a servant to when she lived in a glamorous house on the biggest farm in the area. When her father dies, her house was burnt down and she is forced to become a servant. These two characters relate because both of them started out very rich then when a certain event occurred, everything fell for them and started heading down hill. I think that it is okay for Bruno to be a bit upset that he had to leave his grandparents and friends. That can be really hard. And not turning the corner and finding nooks and crannies to keep him company. I can't imagine what it would be like if  I were in his position not knowing where I am or why.

These are Chapters 1-3 ONLY

To be continued...

  1. I really like how you made a connection to other books .
Also I think that Esperanza and Bruno are alike but different in many ways.

  2. I agree with both Amelia and Grace. The connection you made really makes sense, because they are both upset about moving. Bruno has a lot to learn and I wonder how he will absorb it.
